UAL Creative Stratagy 2022-2032Thu Jul 19 2022
As the world grapples with deep-rooted social and economic challenges, creative practices have the power to disrupt, challenge, and redefine these rigid systems. Inspired by the idea that creativity can be a force for change, I set out to explore the contrast between structured infrastructures and the fluidity of artistic expression—using form and composition as my primary tools.

I began this project by sculpting a sphere in Cinema 4D, experimenting with its sculpting functions for the first time. This exploration led me to create organic shapes inspired by roots and neurons—symbols of interconnectedness, growth, and transformation. By arranging them in random yet deliberate patterns, I aimed to reflect the unpredictable nature of creativity against structured constraints.

The final piece represents the tension between social and economic structures and the ability of creative expression to navigate, challenge, and transcend them. I intentionally left the work with an ‘unfinished’ aesthetic, reinforcing the idea that these systems are constantly evolving—and that true change is an ongoing process. Given that this project aligns with a decade-long strategy, a fully resolved composition felt counterintuitive to the message I wanted to convey.

Initially, I planned to emphasize the contrast between organic and rigid elements through differing textures and colors. However, I found myself drawn to the cohesiveness of the metallic structure, which, in itself, suggests a powerful narrative—creativity as an integral part of existing systems, yet constantly striving to break free.
